- Perennials - Aquilegia and Primula
- Annuals - Impatiens, Osteospermum and Petunia.
- Shrubs - Azalea and Forsythia
- Trees - Cherries and Magnolias
- Spring Bulbs - Begonia and oxalis
Advice
- Protect fruit blossom from late frost using fleece during colder spells.
- Use high nitrogen feed for citrus plants and berries.
- Split perennials e.g. Hosta ensuring they have adequate roots and water to establish in their new positions.
- Hardy annuals can be sown in pots and started indoors.
- Sweet peas can be sown outside and fleece used during colder spells to encourage growth.
- Prepare soil and plant summer flowering bulbs.
- Dead head spring bedding plants. Lots of these plants (e.g. Pansies) will continue to flower throughout spring and early summer.
- Liquid feed indoor/greenhouse plants that show signs of growth.
- Grow plug plants in greenhouses.
- Mow lawns and feed with high nitrogen fertiliser combined with mosskiller if needed.
- Sow new lawns or patches if weather is mild
- Apply weedkiller to lawns in April.
